Against the Current

The hidden cost of salmon farming

Against the Current is set in the Marlborough Sounds; one of New Zealand's most unique and remarkable waterways. Residents have recently come head to head with a multi-national company proposing large-scale expansion of salmon farming in the area.

But the waters get a little murky when it comes to the potential impacts that intensive salmon farming may have on this unique waterway. With government in favour of growing New Zealand's aquaculture industry, the Marlborough community has an enormous battle on their hands; a battle to protect the future of their sounds.
